Head of IT Infrastructure - Permanent - London - Onsite

Our client is a leading UK-based organisation delivering critical services across a high-availability, technology-driven environment. As part of continued growth, they are seeking a Head of IT Infrastructure to lead and evolve their internal technology landscape, ensuring it is secure, resilient, and aligned with long-term business objectives. This role requires a forward-thinking technology leader who can balance operational excellence with strategic development. You will take ownership of IT services, infrastructure, and cybersecurity, ensuring systems support business continuity, enable digital transformation, and scale with future demand.

We are looking for an experienced IT leader with a strong technical foundation and a passion for building robust, future-ready environments. You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of IT services, leading teams, managing partners, and driving continuous improvement across infrastructure, cloud, and security domains.

Success in this role requires a blend of strategic thinking and hands-on leadership, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, always-on environment. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, ensuring IT capabilities are aligned with business priorities while maintaining high standards of governance, performance, and compliance.

Candidate Requirements

  • Strong expertise across IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, cloud, storage, and endpoints
  • Deep knowledge of cybersecurity, risk management, and frameworks (e.g. ISO 27001, NIST)
  • Experience operating in high-availability environments, ensuring resilience, continuity, and disaster recovery
  • Proven track record delivering IT services and support within complex organisations
  • Experience leading digital transformation and technology innovation initiatives
  • Demonstrated leadership of IT teams, including coaching, mentoring, and building high-performing functions
  • Strong experience managing vendors, contracts, SLAs, and IT budgets, aligned to business strategy
  • Ability to operate at a senior level, acting as escalation point and contributing to leadership forums
  • Proven capability in establishing IT governance, policies, and operational standards
  • Excellent communicator, translating technical concepts for diverse stakeholders, with a proactive, collaborative and resilient approach under pressure
  • Professional accreditations/experience desirable:
    • CISSP
    • CISM
    • CompTIA Security+
    • Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals, or similar
    • Experience with cloud security (e.g., Azure, AWS), endpoint pro

This role operates within a business-critical environment where IT services underpin core operations, and as such may require flexibility to support out-of-hours escalations when necessary. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.
