Head of MCR Operations - Permanent - London - Onsite

Our client is a Content and Media Services company in the UK who provide mission critical live broadcast and content processing services to customers from around the world. They are expanding their UK operation and looking for a Head of MCR Operations to oversee their 24/7 Broadcast and Media Content MCR Operation.

This position is responsible for Live Transmission, Media Management and the MCR, acting as the senior authority for live broadcast transmission, incident management, and operational resilience, ensuring compliance, readiness, and high-performance delivery across mission-critical workflows. You will leads and develops multidisciplinary teams, setting objectives, defining policies and standards, fostering a collaborative culture, and driving continuous improvement, innovation, and technical capability. Collaboration with Editorial, Production, Technology, Scheduling, and external partners to coordinate end-to-end broadcast operations, support future planning and service launches, and contribute to long-term strategic evolution including cloud adoption will be critical.

Candidate requirements:

  • Extensive experience in broadcast technology and operations, across MCR, Transmission, playout, contribution and distribution workflows
  • Strong technical understanding of transmission and playout systems, including OTT and live broadcast environments
  • Proven ability to operate and make decisions in high-pressure, mission-critical live broadcast scenarios
  • Demonstrated senior leadership experience, leading engineering/operations teams within broadcast environments
  • Track record of developing teams through coaching, mentoring, and performance management
  • Experience managing budgets, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholder relationships
  • Proactive and solutions-focused, with a strong ability to innovate and drive continuous improvement
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, engaging effectively with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Highly organised and resilient, able to prioritise, work autonomously, and deliver under pressure
  • Strong team player who builds collaborative, high-performance working environments

As the facility you will be accountable for is a 24/7 live broadcast environment, the expectation is this role will be on-site in London 5 days per week, with the potential for unsociable hours due to any technical escalations.

This position is also only open to candidates with the right to work in the UK.
