Broadcast Support Engineer (Freelance) – London

We are supporting a leading broadcast services provider delivering live content across complex, high-availability environments. They require a Broadcast Support Engineer on a short-term contract to provide hands-on technical support across live broadcast systems, ensuring service continuity during a critical delivery phase.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide L1–L3 support across live broadcast and media processing systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across contribution, playout, and distribution workflows
  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify potential service risks
  • Support live events, ensuring minimal disruption and rapid incident resolution
  • Work closely with engineering, operations, and third-party vendors
  • Maintain clear documentation, incident logs, and handover notes

Requirements

  • Proven experience in broadcast support or engineering within live environments
  • Strong understanding of broadcast workflows (contribution, playout, OTT, distribution)
  • Experience with IP-based video technologies (e.g. SMPTE 2110, 2022-6/7)
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools, signal flow, and fault diagnosis
  • Ability to operate under pressure in time-critical, live broadcast scenarios
  • Strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement
