Senior Full Stack Developer – Python / TypeScript / GCP - 6 Month Contract

Arrk Media is supporting a major global Sports and Media organisation with the complete rebuild of a critical accreditation and access-control platform used across its international events.
We are looking for a genuinely Senior Full Stack Developer to join the programme immediately.
This isn’t a front-end-heavy Full Stack role.
We need a backend-leaning senior engineer who is highly experienced with Python, APIs, PostgreSQL and application security, but who can also work confidently across a modern TypeScript front end.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone capable of becoming a technical authority within the team – somebody who can challenge decisions, identify security risks and confidently engage with engineering, architecture and security stakeholders.
The environment
The core stack includes:
- Python – Backend
- TypeScript / JavaScript
- React and/or Vue
- PostgreSQL
- REST APIs
- Authentication & authorisation
- RBAC
- PostgreSQL Row-Level Security
- GCP ideally
The application handles sensitive personal information, making security fundamental to the build.
You’ll need a strong understanding of secure API development, permissions, authentication, input validation, data governance and common application-security vulnerabilities.
The key challenge
The rebuilt application needs to be production-ready, penetration-tested and security-approved by November.
We’re therefore particularly interested in developers who have previously:
- Taken applications through penetration testing.
- Worked directly with security teams.
- Remediated pen-test findings.
- Built systems dealing with sensitive data.
- Designed complex permissions/access-control models.
- Delivered production systems against challenging deadlines.
Experience with GCP would be highly desirable.
Experience using modern AI development environments such as Claude Code is also valuable. We’re looking for someone who knows how to use AI to accelerate engineering while still applying the experience required to distinguish between generated code and secure, maintainable, production-quality software.
Knowledge of Google Antigravity would be an excellent bonus, although it isn’t essential.
What we’re looking for
This role suits an experienced Senior Engineer who is comfortable taking ownership and being the person others turn to for technical answers.
You should be able to move comfortably between the database, backend, API and front end – but your strongest expertise is likely to sit in backend engineering, application architecture and security.
